KENTUCKY CHILD PORN LAWS
The laws against child pornography are stricter than ordinary obscenity laws. The goal is to stop the abuse and exploitation of children. It’s real simple: If the pornography involves children, it’s illegal. Period.
Under federal law, child pornography or “kiddy porn” generally is any photograph, film or computer-generated image that shows a minor (someone under 18 years old) engaging in “sexually explicit conduct.” The law gives numerous examples of what qualifies as sexually explicit conduct. It’s a federal crime to have, make, sell or distribute, or look at child pornography. It’s also a crime to offer to trade child pornography images.
Kentucky’s child pornography laws were strengthened in 2013 with the passage of a bill allowing the arrest of persons who intentionally view child pornography through “the cloud.” This means that you can be charged even if the images are not located on your computer hard drive.
